The Superglo Facial Combines Several Services for the Ultimate Rejuvenation Experience

Heidi M. Rolf

Often, combinations of products and services can optimize results, and that holds true in facial services. Not only do facials soothe and pamper, but they can offer very concrete results depending on your needs and skin type.

The Superglo Facial offered here at Sacred Hour is one example of a combined set of services aimed at getting you results. It is great for people who notice dry, dull skin or premature aging — fine lines, light wrinkles, and dark spots.

To start, the aesthetician will remove your makeup, and place you under the steamer which warms the skin, opens pores, loosens dead skin cells, dirt and bacteria in preparation for exfoliation, and increases perspiration, which helps flush out toxins. Steaming also stimulates blood circulation which carries oxygen and nutrients to the skin’s surface.

After the steam, the aesthetician will apply a peel appropriate for your skin type and needs. This will penetrate the skin and work to loosen and dissolve dead skin cells.

After the peel, microdermabrasion is performed to remove the dead skin cells and stimulate collagen development. Combining the peel with the microdermabrasion provides a deeper, more significant result than either one alone. The outer layer of the skin is removed reducing the appearance of fine lines, light scarring, and dark spots. Your skin will appear more vibrant and with build-up removed, your moisturizers and serums will penetrate more fully and effectively.

The aesthetician will extract impurities such as blackheads and milia from the pores, which are simply trapped oil and keratin. With clear pores and a smooth canvas, your face is ready for a mask to calm and re-hydrate the skin. Your facial will finish with a serum or moisturizer and eye cream to lock in moisture.

Your aesthetician can work with  you to develop a skincare routine that will help you benefit from your facial and maintain the best results. An ideal routine would include a Superglo facial every four to eight weeks.

Spa Service: How Much Microdermabrasion Can Improve Your Skin

Heidi M. Rolf

When you look in the mirror each morning do you focus on trying to downplay the fine lines around your eyes? Do you work at hiding the random large pores or mild acne scars that dot your face? Do you try to camouflage moderate discolorations, or wonder how to brighten a dull complexion?

If you’re nodding as you’re reading, you may benefit from a skin treatment called microdermabrasion. While the name may sound, well, abrasive, it’s actually a quick and painless procedure that exfoliates dead skin cells and improves skin tone and texture. Our aesthetician will use a hand-held device to gently brush and lift away dead cells.

Following microdermabrasion, your skin may be more sensitive since the top layer of skin has been sloughed off, and you’ll be advised to use sun protection to prevent irritation.

In general, as a stand-alone procedure, your skin will immediately appear brighter, more evenly toned, and it will feel noticeably smoother after just one session. However, to get the best results, microdermabrasion should be performed once a week for four weeks and then every four to six weeks.

Microdermabrasion can also be paired with other treatments, like peels. Because it clears the skin of dead cells, peels and other products can penetrate the skin more easily, making them more effective.

Spa Service: Restore & Rejuvenate with a Glycolic Acid Facial Peel

Tabitha Baker

At Sacred Hour, we are dedicated to supporting your well-being. We continually look to add new products and services to our menu that will ensure you you leave our space feeling relaxed and nourished on every level. Beyond massages, we offer a number of skincare services from full facials that include a series of services designed to address different skin needs to single-step services such as peels and microdermabrasion that target specific problem areas.

Among our facial services is the glycolic acid peel which aims to remove dead skin buildup, smooth fine lines and wrinkles, reduce the appearance of discolorations and brighten skin tone. This is a mild chemical peel that works great for people who have acne, mild sun damage or light age lines.

When you schedule a peel service, our aesthetician will work with you to put together a skincare plan that will address your specific needs and guarantee that the peel is appropriate for your skin type and condition. After a consultation, the peel solution will be applied. The length of time it sits on your skin will depend on your skin needs. There is little to no discomfort during or after the peel. Your skin may tingle or feel prickly during the peel and your skin may flake slightly in the days following. Therefore, you'll be advised to avoid sunlight and use sun protection because your skin will be sensitive during this healing time. Due to this, you may want to plan peels at least a week prior to any significant event.

Depending on your skin type and condition, it may take several peels to see results. And, while results will vary by individual, many clients note brighter skin following their first peel.

If you’re interested in finding out more about the glycolic acid peel, schedule a 15-minute consultation or make an appointment with Rachel or Maureen.
