decoding the lone wolf

It’s a Me Party… and I’m the only one invited. I’m the girl who prefers being alone. Sound lonely? Not even close.

Why is solo life so appealing? Because I love Me Time. Sound boring? Then you’re doing it wrong. The secret is to find Me Time that recharges YOU. It doesn’t have to be a scene from Sex and the City. It just needs to be that thing that lights you up… Pinterest-ing for two hours, maybe a deep tissue massage… You have to figure that out!

How do I pack in a superhuman amount of work each week? Time management and no one being around to distract me. Every Sunday, I set my weekly goals. Every morning over coffee, I run through the day for a few minutes. No one in my way.

Any time someone comes to my home to visit, they eventually say the words “I feel like I’m on vacation!” Exactly. My home is a bubble of comfort… beautiful things everywhere with a space for “activities” and projects. Everything I need is here!

Last but not least, and I cannot stress this enough, travel on your own. The first time I did it, I was equally terrified and exhilarated. Start small, but do it. The feeling of doing exactly what YOU want to do, when you want to do it is a feeling you need to feel at least once in your life.

Maybe going out seems like I’m lonely. No, It’s not “anti-social”. I’m just living my life. I’ve got projects going. I’ve got personal goals. Yes, I’ll join you for a planned Happy Hour. Sure. And after a long week—I will also carve out a full day just to get my head back in the game. It’s all about balance.
