KOREAN SCRUB EXPERT CHRISTINA!

Our dear friend Christina is our Korean Scrub expert here at Sacred Hour. She is also the owner of Be Studios CLE! We got to chat with her about life, working at SH and owning her business here in Cleveland and this is what she had to say!

SH: How did you meet Tabitha?
CA: I met Tabitha over 10 years ago at Sacred Hour in her original Lakewood space, she was my favorite massage therapist, ever!

SH: Tell me a little bit about the history of your business.
CA: I started Be Studios 10 years ago as a pole fitness and dance studio. It was the first of its kind in Cleveland. Over time, it has developed into a Fitness Boutique, featuring Pilates Reformer, Pole and Aerial Silks.

SH: What do you love about owning a business in Cleveland?
CA: I started Be Studios before the “renaissance”, that is now happening in Cleveland. I would have to say watching it grow, along with the city. Be has become a solid space for people to get into their bodies and feel comfortable with physical self-expression, has been incredibly fulfilling.

SH: What inspired you to create BE Studios?
CA: I have been a dancer since the age of 5 and continued studying and exploring many forms of dance throughout my life, so to open up a dance studio that thought outside the box, fit my personality well. I also knew there was a need that Be Studios could fill.

SH: How did you get your idea or concept for BE?
CA: I was a dancer that found healing in a particular stylized movement. It was feminine and strong and I wanted to share this with other women. It has been a profound experience to say the least.

SH: What is the most rewarding part about owing your business?
CA: Seeing it grow! I started with 1 client and now we have had thousands come in to experience it for themselves. It is a beautiful and supportive space to be in.

SH: Whats the scariest/hardest part about being a business owner?
CA: Owning your own business is like riding a wave, which is constantly moving and changing. At times comfortable but mainly learning to thrive in the unknown. You trust it because you love it, you believe in it, so you just keep stepping forward without a safety net.

SH: What does the future of BE look like to you?
CA: The future will be solid and bright, I believe. We have a strong staff and community of students that are passionate, kind and authentic. So, that gives us the desire to keep showing up and growing.

SH: How did you establish the culture that exists in your business?
CA: Just being real and compassionate. Choosing the quality of individuals experience as the most important element at Be.

SH: Why do you love working at SH?
CA: I LOVE Sacred Hour because it deepens my life in such a beautiful way. Not only do I get to step into a gorgeous space, which feels like a sanctuary to me, I also get to be apart of Tabitha’s creation. She continues to inspire me with her vision of what Sacred has to offer. She is a wonderful friend and Sacred is a special place.

SH: What do you love about offering the Korean Scrub at SH?
CA: This has to be one of the most enjoyable things I have done in years. The experience is visceral, ritualistic of sorts and done with genuine love. Seeing the reaction of most clients and knowing that their minds were blown and bodies were cleansed, gives me satisfaction.

SH: How do you find your center and ground yourself!?
CA: That can be done in a few ways for me! I may take a pilates class, or be in nature, look out over the water or walk in the woods. Sit with a friend or listen to music that moves my soul.

SH: Who/what inspires you the most?
CA: People who are real and work everyday doing what they love. Risk takers. People who have a tenacious way about them and do good for the world in some way.

SH: Where is your favorite place you have ever traveled?
CA: I don’t think I can pick a favorite but I can tell you that stepping out of this country and seeing how others live, has been one of my favorite things to do. Exploring the world, if possible, will feed your mind and spirit!

SH: What your favorite way to relax?
CA: A good foot massage! A quiet nap on the beach. Now a days, it is stepping into the steam room at Sacred Hour. It feels like a safe, warm cloud filled with peace.

SH: To what do you attribute your success?
CA: I keep moving forward. I live my life as kind as possible, I truly want all of us to heal and keep going.

SH: What are your hobbies?
CA: That is always changing, but now that I have 2 little boys of my own, my hobbies are more about spending time with them and creating cool adventures with them.

SH: Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire most?
CA: I am going to shout out Sacred Hour because, it is a close part of my life now and has become my sacred refuge.

SH: Whats your guilty pleasure?
CA: Coffee, chocolate, and binge watching Netflix when I am able to.

SH: How do you recharge when you’re feeling drained?
CA: Sleep! I try to retreat for some quiet time when life gets hectic, add in some tea, a sauna/steam sitting, or workout, all should be good to go.
