THERAPIST OF THE WEEK JESSICA

WHOA! This woman has the strength of a super hero. A skill set perfect for the pro athlete to the weekend warrior. And right on point for the one who just loves a deep massage. Jessica started massaging in 2014 when she graduated from Tri-C eastern campus. We caught up with her to chat about her career and motivation and this is what she had to say!

SH: What brought you to Massage Therapy?
J: Originally I started school for Physical Therapy and then changed to Massage Therapy because the program was faster, I always planned on going back for PT but after I started my career in massage I realized I really loved it and it was the right fit for me.

SH: What do you love about working at SH?
J: Hands down the clients. I really like the dynamics of working here, I have regular clients who come to see me on a set schedule and other days it’s all new faces and a variety of different services.

SH: What is your favorite essential oil to use during Aromatherapy massages?
J: I really love Eucalyptus, especially if someone is having sinus issues. It opens everything up and feels so good.

SH: What is your favorite part about being a Massage Therapist?
J: Helping people, I love working on a problem from a loss of range of motion to an injury.

SH: What is your favorite service to offer here at SH?
J: I prefer to offer therapeutic massages. To work out all the issues and for someone to leave here pain free.

SH: What is your greatest accomplishment in life?
J: Raising my kids, I’m not done yet, I have one at 8 months and one at 8 years old. It hard and takes a lot of hard work and it takes a lot out of me. I gain so much back from my babies that it’s so worth all the hard work.

SH: What do you enjoy doing outside of work and raising children?
J: I really enjoy reading and just relaxing when I get the time. And sneaking away on vacation when I can!

SH: Who is your inspiration?
J: My mom, we have a really close relationship she’s my best friend and I get to see her everyday.

SH: How do you find time to ground yourself?
J: For the last year I’ve been working on learning to meditate, it’s a lot harder to center yourself than I ever thought. And a lot of deep breathing.

SH: What’s your favorite book or TV show to catch when you have some down time?
J: I really love Stranger Things on Netflix!

SH: What is the greatest gift you have ever received?
J: My children.

SH:If you could have any three wishes what would they be?
J: I would wish for success for my children. I would wish for success in starting my own business some day and a fortune, you can’t go wrong with that.

SH: If you could travel anywhere where would it be and why?
J: I was just talking to my mom about how I would love to visit Africa, to see the country where I am from. I’ve heard it’s beautiful but I might have a hard time stomaching the flight but I think it would be cool!
